A backyard ultra is a long-distance running race on a short loop! The race will begin at 9 am on Saturday morning and the runners have 1 hour to complete the first loop.
If you complete your lap in 40 minutes or 59 minutes it doesn't matter. This isn't a speed race!
At 10 am the bell will be rung and everyone that wants to continue must run the same loop in the next hour.
The bell will be rung 3 minutes before, 2 minutes before and 1 minute before. All runners must be ready by the last bell. No late starts!
1 lap = 6.706 km
4 laps = 26.824 km (more than a half marathon!)
7 laps = 46.942 km (more than a marathon!)
15 laps = 100.59 km
24 laps = 160.944 km (100 miles) + 4032m elevation (Almost double Kebnekaise...)
The race continues until all but 1 have decided to stop. If you are the last runner, you must complete a solo loop within the hour to be declared the winner.
If there is more than 1 runner remaining on the last lap, then the fastest final lap wins!
